For the first 25 years of my life I could not stand coffee. I would occassionally drink one of the refrigerated Starbucks Mocha beverages, and that was far and few between. I absolutely love the smell of fresh brewed coffee or coffee grounds, but the taste? Not so much.
Being married to an Italian I’m constantly around espresso. Matteo can drink one and go to sleep thirty minutes later. It doesn’t affect him. For Father’s Day this year he bought himself the Breville Touch coffee machine and it (apparently) makes a killer espresso. I decided to mix up my Double Chocolately Chip Frappuccino by adding some in and the result has been delicious. I’m making myself these Java Chip drinks almost every day. It tastes just like the Java Chip Frappuccino at Starbucks or the Java Chip Frappe at McDonald’s.
What You'll Need:
Equipment:
Blender
Ingredients:
2 cups of ice
2 tbsp chocolate sauce
1/3 cup chocolate chips
1 shot of espresso
1 cup of milk

- Pulse the chocolate chips until smooth, approx. 10-15 seconds.
- Add the chocolate sauce, espresso, ice and milk in THAT order. Blend together until mixed, approx. 45 seconds.
- Pour into your cup(s), top with whipped cream & enjoy!
My favorite kind of chocolate is dark so that is what I used both for the chips and the sauce. However any kind would work with the recipe. If you are going to omit the chocolate sauce, add 1 tsp of vanilla.
I used a dessert sauce, not regular syrup, so it is more thick. If you’re using syrup you may want to add more if the taste isn’t exactly how you want it.
I used lactose free milk because that is what I drink, but this recipe will work with any kind of milk.

Voila! How easy (and delicious) was that?! If you made it, I would love to see it. Tagg me on Instagram @PigtailsAndPasta.
